Do you take insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider, meaning I do not bill insurance companies directly. Don’t let that be a deterrent! Many plans offer reimbursement for my services.
To help you access these benefits, I provide a Superbill (a specialized receipt) for you to submit to your provider. I recommend using the Thrizer Calculator below to estimate your actual out-of-pocket costs.
Why Out-of-Network?
Directly billing insurance often requires a permanent mental health diagnosis and allows the insurance company to dictate the number or length of your sessions.
Choosing out-of-network care ensures:
Privacy: Your records and treatment stay confidential.
Autonomy: We decide the pace and focus of your therapy, not an insurance adjuster.
Note: If you choose to use a Superbill for reimbursement, insurance companies will require a clinical diagnosis to be listed on that document.
Verifying Your Benefits
Before our first session, call the number on your insurance card and ask:
Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
Do you cover CPT code 90837?
Is there an out-of-network deductible I need to meet first?
Is there a limit on the number of sessions or the dollar amount covered per session?
Where do sessions take place?
I offer both in-person and digital spaces for our work together:
In-Person: Fridays at my office in Kirkland.
Virtual: Throughout Washington State via a secure video platform.
Scheduling: We can review current openings and find a time that works for you during our initial 15 minute consult.
How do we get started?
My process is designed to be low pressure and transparent:
The Consult: We begin with a free 15 minute call to share what is on your mind and see if my approach feels right for you.
The Intake: If we move forward, we schedule an intake session for a full assessment of your history and current needs.
The Fit: This is an opportunity for us to determine our compatibility while moving at a pace that feels safe for you.
What does therapy look like? What should I expect?
Consistency is key to support a change process, so most people benefit from starting with weekly sessions.
Throughout our work, we will regularly assess our progress. I believe in radical honesty regarding the therapeutic relationship.
If I feel you would be better served by a different specialist, I will tell you. We are not, as the kids say, locked in forever; our goal is your evolution, not indefinite sessions.
Is your practice a good fit for my needs? Do you offer wrap-around care?
As a small private practice, I do not have the resources for wrap around services or on call crisis support. You deserve the highest quality of care from a provider with the specific structural capacity to support your safety.
We are not a good fit if you are seeking services for:
Domestic or intimate partner violence
Child custody cases
Active suicidal ideation or self-inflicted harm
Substance use that inhibits daily functioning
Psychosis related diagnoses (example: schizophrenia)
Intensive outpatient care (IOP)
Court mandated treatment, assessments, or legal testimony
